Training + Skills Development

At Autism Independent Living Association (AiLA), we are committed to bringing personal-development and life-skills training directly to our members. We actively encourage our community to engage with external learning forums, webinars, and partner organizations like Toastmasters to broaden their communication horizons.

Alongside these external opportunities, we design and deliver our own custom, internal training programs. Participants in our Resident Council frequently share how these sessions have fundamentally built their self-confidence and communication skills.

As we look to the future, we are excited to expand our curriculum with new training ideas, including business basics, media-based communications, nutritional workshops, and comprehensive financial training.

Financial Literacy Video Series

AiLA has been busy developing a milestone project. Thanks to funding from the AimCo Foundation for Financial Education, we have scripted and filmed a new financial literacy video series. Specifically designed for autistic adults navigating budgeting on a low income, these upcoming videos offer an easy-to-understand tool to simplify the complex world of personal finance.

AiLA on CBC: Cooking Program

The CBC segment highlighted our cooking program, which helps autistic adults build independence through kitchen skills, healthy eating, and budgeting. A big thank you to CBC for shining a light on practical life skills, and to AiLA President Leanne Carr for sharing the impact these workshops have on our families.
