At AiLA, community is at the heart of everything we do. From movie nights and festivals to dinners and sporting events, we are always looking for new ways to connect and grow together.
This September, our community took its first vacation together. It was a five day trip to the beautiful William Watson Lodge in Kananaskis, Alberta. It is a place that holds deep meaning for many, including our community member Janae, who first visited as a child.
Nestled deep in the mountains, William Watson Lodge offers a peaceful retreat for people with disabilities to enjoy nature without the distractions of WiFi or cell service.
During our stay, we explored Canmore and Kananaskis Village, went hiking, shared a wiener roast, spotted grizzly bears from a safe distance, played board games, and shared many laughs over a special AiLA dinner.
What made this trip so meaningful was the time spent together, forming new friendships, strengthening old ones, and building connections that make our community even stronger.
We returned home refreshed, grateful, and excited for all the adventures yet to come. And the best part — we will be coming back next year! Details will be shared in 2026, so stay tuned if you would like to join us for the next AiLA adventure in Kananaskis.
