Autism Led

AiLA is an autism led, autism focused organization. Our current board is 75% autistic adults, with our autistic adult membership holding 51% of the voting rights. This ensures we keep an autism focus on everything we do.

Partnerships

AiLA is all about partnerships. We are always looking for partners who value building independence for autistic adults, whether that is in housing, support needs or organizations led by and focused on autism.

Adult Focus

Our initiatives are for adults or youth looking to transition into adulthood. We also have a focus on autism through a person’s lifespan with a goal to foster independence through all life’s stages.

Mission and Values

Our mission is to support autistic adults with moderate needs to develop to their full potential by providing person-centered care needed to live independently in the community. There are 4 components of this mission:

  1. To foster a supportive community for the benefit of autistic adults and their families
  2. To develop leadership skills for autistic adults.
  3. To develop independent living skills for autistic adults who will live in the community.
  4. To build a sustainable and intentional housing community led by autistic adults and their allies

We provide supports under four pillars – self governance, housing community, social connections and education/skill development. These are achieved through three program areas: health and wellness, skills development, and our supportive housing initiative.
